Via Connecticut Local Politics, an article in the New London Day reports that Rob Simmons is stepping down from his position as the state business advocate when his formerly-independent position moves under the Department of Economic and Community Development in January. While this is not good news for businesses in Connecticut, it will leave him free to pursue either the Governor's office or Dodd's seat in 2010.
Hopefully he can be convinced to remain in public service, for the sake of the state and the Republican party.

I would like to see him governor but I had always thought that he was more interested in getting back in congress.
Simmons is a bit liberal for me but he would be a vast improvement over the incumbent. Rell is a supernice lady but she is no leader.
I really hope the party urges her to retire.
Or face a primary.
