Shays Not Planning On Challenging Dodd In 2010

Strike one name from the list of potential Republican challengers to Chris Dodd in 2010. As reported by The Hill, Chris Shays says that he has no plans to run.

Former Rep. Chris Shays (R-Conn.) says he isn't gearing up to challenge Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) in 2010.

"I am not running for the Senate," Shays emailed The Hill.

Shays, who was beaten by Rep. Jim Himes (D) last year after holding the seat since 1987, has been mentioned as a potential challenger to Dodd. Dodd recently refinanced two loans he had with Countrywide Mortgage Loans after it appeared he was given a favorable rate.

Shays did not, however, respond to a follow up email asking whether he had completely shut the door on the possibility.
