Republican state senator Sam Caligiuri announced this morning that he will run for the U.S. Senate seat currently occupied by the embattled Chris Dodd.
It will be an uphill battle for the young attorney and former acting mayor of Waterbury, whose name recognition is far below Dodd's and the other announced Republican challenger, former rep Rob Simmons. Caligiuri seems to be well-liked and well-respected, and it will be fun to watch.
